With an average of 24,000 students enrolled across its 27 degree-granting units, the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) is boosting its support services to help students manage life on its 493-hectare campus.
Incoming students receive admission guides from the Office of the University Registrar, containing essential information on enrollment procedures and available services. Orientation programs for freshies, transferees, and graduate students are also held to introduce them to campus life.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (OVCSA), in coordination with colleges, the University Student Council, and College Councils, organizes key activities such as the Freshie Orientation Program, organization fairs, and the University Welcome Assembly to foster a sense of belonging.
In line with its commitment to student welfare, OVCSA implements several initiatives. Among them is the Eatskolar Project, a community-backed program providing subsidized meals to financially vulnerable students through a coupon system. Another is Start ‘Em Young, a gender sensitivity and NSTP orientation that promotes awareness of sex and gender issues and the UP Anti-Sexual Harassment Code.
"The UPD Coaching Hub, in partnership with Benchmark Consulting, offers free one-on-one career and life coaching for selected students. Meanwhile, the OVCSA spearheads activities during Mental Health Month, providing safe spaces, stress-relief opportunities, and psychosocial support."
Throughout their stay in UPD, students are further assisted by dedicated offices under OVCSA, including those handling counseling, scholarships, housing, food, student ethics, and campus activities, ensuring holistic support for their academic and personal growth.(Source UP Manila)
